Have you been murmuring?
We all get to that place in life when we start to complain and feel discouraged. If we listen closely to our words it sounds very similar to murmuring, yes, the same thing the Israelites did for 40 years in the wilderness. After a lengthy discussion I was having with the Father about some situations, I was reminded that only praise and thanks will improve our situation. "God inhabits the praises of his people" (Psalms 22:3). He also tells us to "In everything give thanks" (1 Thess. 5:16). Though I knew in my heart that I needed to give God praise and thanks in every circumstance, I was not aware of how detrimental the act of murmuring really is. The word "murmur" is from Strong's Hebrew #3885 Lun/Liyn. It means to stay, lodge, abide, or tarry. It is derived from the ancient hebrew words Lamed (Staff) and Nun (Seed/Sperm/Word). A quick glance at the meaning does not look so bad, until you think about the situation you are trying to get out of. Do you want out of the wilderness? Are you planning on staying in the valley of the shadow of death, or are you walking through victoriously? These two symbols of the shepherd's staff and the seed explain perfectly how our murmurings and complainings stop God's Word from continuing and manifesting in our life. The Hebrew letter Lamed is the shape of a hooked staff that is used to stop a sheep from moving forward. The same action occurs in our life when we continue to murmur. We stop progressing in God when we dwell on the problem, and we stop being results-driven. God rather asks that we seek him, praise him, and thank him that the victory is in Yahshuah. With this understanding, turn every battle into a victory and press on in the hope of your calling and purpose in God. Remember, our words will open up doors or close them and they will lose or bind. So, always give thanks and praise God as we move forward with Him and continue the work of the Kingdom.
