The Offering God Wants!?!
Let us begin with the idea of a tithe or an offering. We generally think that God needs us to give money and that is the most important thing we can give. In truth, there are many things that we can give to God. We can give to God by giving money, time, prayers, help, etc...God does mention the type of offering that is most important to him. Let's look at that together. In Malachi 3:8-10 it reads "Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation. Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse." People continue to ask the same thing today. They give a portion of their money to the church and say how have I robbed God, I already gave my tithes and offerings. Is this passage talking about money at all? Here in Malachi, it mentions that God wants something in his storehouse (temple). He is not talking of a natural storehouse, which can be seen as the temple. God is not even talking about money or vain sacrifice. Hosea 6:6 tells us "For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings." This verse shows us that the Father values a personal intimate knowledge of him (a close relationship) more than burnt offerings. In other words, he wants a real, walking talking, relationship with you. Are we one heart, one mind, doing things in one love, moving in one accord? Do we know what God desires, what his thoughts are? If you do not, simply ask, a relationship starts with a conversation.
He is telling us that WE are his temple and desires to dwell in it. "Know you not that you are the temple of God?" (1Cor. 3:16). God seeks to dwell, walk, commune, and fellowship with you. When we give our lives to God, it means ALL of our time, money, work, relationships, desires, wants, and needs are given to Him. We know that we must decrease and God must increase in us, we know that we must be crucified with Christ and that as we are baptized, we are given a new name. That new name is an Anointed One, a Christ, a Yahshua (God is Salvation), etc...The Ancient Word in Hebrew for "offering," H7133, is written with the following letters: Qof, Resh, and Beyt. Together, this pictograph, states "Let the Son/Yahshua arise/manifest and be the head/1st in your house." God desires above all else, to see Jesus Christ being manifested in you and through. In conclusion, an offering, is you presenting yourself as a living sacrifice, which means allowing God to enter your life and give him 1st place above all things. When you are one with God, you then can say as Jesus said, "If you have seen me, you have seen the Father, me and my Father are one, I can only do and say what I see my Father doing and saying." The Father is desiring that there be many more Sons, remember that Christ Jesus is the first among many!
